The Local Governing Body of Wantage CE Primary School and the Vale Academy Trust Board are pleased to announce that Andrew Browne will succeed Clare Morgan as Headteacher, following an intensive recruitment process that took place just before Easter. Andrew will take up his new role from September 1st, 2018.
Andrew will be leaving St Nicholas CE Primary School (also part of the Vale Academy Trust) in the summer after a six-year headship at St Nicholas.
Sue Hunter, Chair of Wantage CE Primary’s Local Governing Body, commented: “We are delighted that Andrew will be joining us. During the recruitment process it became clear that he is the right person to lead the school onwards into the next stage of its development, and we are very excited about the future. It is a bonus that, coming from a school within the Vale Academy Trust, Andrew will be familiar with how the Trust works and the benefits of collaboration across the Trust that Heads really value”.
Andrew Browne commented: “I am so proud to have been Head at St Nicholas CE Primary School where it has been a privilege to watch the school and its children go from strength to strength. Whilst I will miss the pupils, families and staff enormously, I am delighted to have been appointed as Head at Wantage CE Primary School where I am looking forward to getting to know everyone; to deepening the vision, values and beliefs of the school community; and to leading a school where everyone is safe, successful and strong.”
In the interim, Evy Boehm, Deputy Headteacher, will take on the role of Acting Headteacher, supported by other members of the senior leadership team and Andrew Browne, who will visit the school regularly to get to know everyone, and on an advisory basis.
Sue Hunter added: “I am confident that these arrangements will ensure that the school continues to provide the children with a dynamic and caring learning environment, through the summer terms and into the future.”
