Vale Academy Trust Choir
The Vale Academy Trust is an 'open to all' choir, made up of members representing primary and secondary schools ranging from Year 4 to Year 10. We are building an exciting range of contemporary songs and also numbers from musicals, all arranged with harmonies and different solo / group parts. The choir represents the best of co-operative work across the Trust and is run by our Primary Music Specialist, Gordon Campbell.
Started 5 years’ ago, the choir has gone from strength to strength and rehearsed in several locations. It now has a permanent home for rehearsals at King Alfred's Academy’s Centre Site in Wantage.
We don't audition choir members – they simply need to love to sing, be enthusiastic and hard-working!
Wednesday 29th March 2023 saw the return of the annual VAT Singing Festival at the Beacon in Wantage. It was a fantastic evening of singing, showcasing the harmony and power of the VAT Choir (ages from year 5 to year 10) as well as a Primary Choir made up of 110 children from our 6 primary schools. The Primary Choir had worked on their songs in singing workshops run by Mr Campbell and absolutely smashed their 4 songs on the night! The VAT choir performed 2 songs for the 1st time in their set of 5, including the incredible "You Will Be Found". Both choirs made an incredible sound, created an inspirational evening of song and demonstrated just what can be achieved when our schools come together!
We received some great feedback afterwards:
"I was blown away by the enthusiasm and sheer joy so clearly evident in all the children".
"What an amazing show. Such a brilliant opportunity for the children to experience being on stage and sing as part of a big choir".
"I wanted to thank you for a most memorable and wonderfully entertaining evening last night. The students were simply amazing and the evening was filled with pure joy".
